Yo Asked, We Listened!

Have you ever wondered if a survey you filled out actually gets read? If your comments were
considered or if the company just crumpled up your reply and tossed it in the bin?

Not us at Littleton School of Music!

We are always striving to improve our practices based on our community and family needs, and
through the feedback we receive. In August, we sent out a survey intending to do just that! We
wanted to know what we were missing and where we could be better so we asked the most
important folks - YOU!

The survey asked questions about the quality of music lessons, interactions with the office staff
members, and the overall customer experience of our attending families so we could get a better
idea of the environment of our school.

The participation was great and the feedback was wonderful!

Our results showed us that the customizable aspect of lessons such as choosing your songs,
genre, and instrument; incentives and awards; being open 7 days a week; and the friendly nature
of the office staff is what adds the cherry on top to your lessons. It’s great to know what’s going
well and we will continue with all items we received positive feedback on!

When we closed the survey, we followed up with all families who participated to thank them for
their time and effort put into responses and to make improvements based on any needs that were
shared. We upgraded students to have longer lessons, added music theory and composition to
those interested, and set up more in depth practice logs and assignment sheets for any parent who
wanted more communication from their student’s teacher, or any student needing more guidance
between lessons.

We learned a lot and we thank everyone who participated - your input has been instrumental in
helping us understand your needs and preferences better. We are committed to an ongoing
dialogue with our school community and would love to know what ways we can better suit your
needs.

Keep an eye out for another survey coming soon and if there are any specific improvements or
changes you would like to see implemented right away, please don't hesitate to reach out to our
office staff. Your feedback is invaluable as we work together to continue providing the best
possible experience for all our students!

MUSIC TIP OF THE MONTH : Practic Smarter, No Harder

Unlocking your musical potential begins with the right practice routine and if you’re feeling
stuck right now, it may be time for a routine tune-up! Whether you’re a seasoned musician or just
starting your musical journey, the right approach to practicing can make all the difference in your
progress and performance.

A recent NPR article, “10 Easy Ways To Optimize Your Music Practice,” offers tips for how you
can make the most out of your practice sessions. Some of the biggest tips we want to pass on
from this is to begin with the end in mind, have a goal, and map your practice session like a
workout. Having a goal in mind helps direct what you’re practicing and comes with a feeling of
achievement when you complete it. Mapping your practice beforehand helps keep you organized
and on target for what you’re hoping to accomplish during that particular practice.

We recommend playing for a few minutes every day to continue getting the most out of your
musical journey, but when you want to have a deeper practice session, keep these tips in mind
and give that NPR article a read. It offers some sound advice!

Remember: It’s about Progress, not Perfection.
